I hand painted a bunch of juicy, dripping peaches all around a copy of that poem and gave it to my now girlfriend on Valentine’s Day, and she STILL didn’t realize I had a crush on her till months later! It hangs on our fridge and we laugh about it all the time now.
"...the Capri Blue Volcano status candle was the height of having your shit together, but none of us could afford one" -- Never have I read a more accurate comment that transported me directly back to college when I was envying my cool, older, grad-school-roommate who always had a volcano candle in her room. The height of luxury, indeed!
I’m dating (on apps!) again too (at 50, 10 yrs after my divorce and after two long-ish term relationships which both ended with zero grace) and I am so excited to hear how you are balancing it all. It’s overwhelming to me and I am looking for some guidance or at least shared stories! Anything to make this a little less stressful.
such a good q! I was sort of dreading it at first but honestly I've been pleasantly surprised by how warm and open people are, it's not what I expected. my main thing is that I'm just trying to be super honest through the whole process — say what I think, feel, wonder about, worry about, etc. and that way, I feel like, no matter what happens, it will be true? I never want to pretend to be a certain way or fake something because then you'll end up dating the wrong person. does that help? is that dumb haha? idk, still figuring it out! xoxo
yes we had a great time! the vibe was cozy. it was called West Shore Inn Steakhouse and had classic leather booths and a long bar and old photos on the wall.
Ok a cygnet/signet ring has to be the most clever product name in recent history. I love how delicate it is - if I were to buy one to commemorate a relationship, whose initial would I use? Theirs? Mine? Common last name?
Thoughts on One Day... I read the book first then watched the TV series. Both were so good and I was delighted that the characters, dialog, story line and settings in the show so perfectly matched the book-that rarely happens. So fun to see the book come to life.
Respectfully, I think you are going in the wrong direction. Shapeware and jeans that can be described rigid are the opposite. More like an elasticized or flexible waste on something that looks like pants.
I think Cate may be referring to some of Spanx’s newer pant product? I don’t own any, but their kick flare perfect pant is very popular amongst my colleagues! No button or zip - just pull on.
Thank you for this staggeringly excellent list! When I saw my beloved —“the dip”—I thought, this list looks promising. And as I continued to read/click through, it sure delivered! Almost too much goodness to take in at once. :)
Is there no issue of Big Salad this week?

I love White Sands National Park! It’s so beautiful! And I am obsessed with the Trader Joe’s candles!
Oh what a great list!
I also love the Stabilo Boss pastel markers! Also chunky and satisfying!
Jo, I must know where you went on Staten Island! I grew up there and my parents still live there. Was it any good?

The Soul Train compilation idea is amazing. I turned one on the moment I read it!

Ok so now I need to go to Dublin airport! Who needs Friday night out - when u can have Dublin airport instead?
That was my comment! Let me know if you come to Dublin airport and I’ll make you a sign 🙌
you are so sweet, clare!
Of course this list was excellent! Thank you!
Speaking of pants…I am always on the lookout for pants that look real but are comfy around the waist, if you get my meaning.
Hate to say it but the answer is spanx!!! So comfy but also feel put together!
