As a child I loved Tina Turner and especially „What‘s love got to do with it“ - my mom is still telling me that I used to sing it with a hairbrush in hand dancing in the living room.
As a teenager I had a huge crush on Mark Owen of Take That (the band was really big in Germany!) and was listening to „Babe“ over and over again! My poor parents! :)
Tina Turner was the coolest. I did my 4th grade Black History book report on Tina Turner and loved learning about her and drawing a picture of her with really big hair. Glad to hear there was another young Tina fan out there!
I was wildly obsessed with Billy Joel as a small child. Bless my mother for not cracking (up) under the pressure of having to listen to tiny me belt out, "I AMMMMM... AN INNOCENT MAAAAAN... OH YES I AMMMMMM... AN INNOCENT MAN" at the top of my 5 year old lungs day in and day out.
“Spice Up Your Life” by the Spice Girls. My first memory of using the internet is asking my Dad to take me to a website about them when I was in second grade.
‘Tearin up my heart’ & ‘Baby One More time’ were two songs that came out when I was in kindergarten-1st grade-ish (if my memory serves me right) and I could not stop listening to both of them. Still bops!
For my 12th birthday my dad gave me a sleek black walkman with those headphones that had an adjustable metal band and spongy puffy ear covers. And the cassette of The Bodyguard soundtrack. I can still hear I Want to Run to You right now. I used to belt out all the lyrics to all of the songs and probably thought I sounded like Whitney. 😊
My first favorite song was "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys - I had a cassette single of it from the movie Cocktail haha. I would play it on repeat and roller skate circles in my garage. I'm pretty sure my sister still has to turn the radio station if it comes on.
My first favorite song was "Yesterday" by the Beatles. I was in kindergarten and heard it sung at a school talent show by an older kid, maybe 5th grade, who was dressed in a striped prison outfit. I can still see him in my mind, even though we moved that summer and I never saw him again. I also heard it the same year in the movie The Money Pit, so I decided it had to be my song. I have always appreciated sad songs, so I guess this is where it started!

I even went to a concert! She was great.
I memorized - and wrote out - all the words to Vogue by Madonna instead of writing essays in high school English...
Mr. Jones by Counting Crows! 🎵 Adam Duritz jumping around like a true dork in the music video is just the best
Fantasy or Always Be My Baby by Mariah Carey <3
I forgot about Always Be My Baby!!

erin! we are kindred spirits! I used to walk around my Michigan suburb in middle school listening to billy Joel on my walkman.

did you watch the Beckham documentary? the spice girls parts were so fascinating to me.
I haven’t yet and will add it to my list! I loved the video he shared of all 5 women dancing at her birthday party 🥳
Madonna immaculate collection!
In the summer of 1992 my mom got a cassette tape of ‘Miss Kit To You’ by Eartha Kitt and I memorized every sultry word on that album—even en français!

I think “Baby One More Time” is one of the best pop songs of 👏🏻 all 👏🏻 time 👏🏻
