Love the hosting tip. We host a lot more as parents too - Any kiddos activities screen free to recommend in case they also have a friend over? Mine are obsessed with play-doh and it keeps them entertained for a while but looking for alternatives! Thank you
Big fan of kinetic sand over here! It also gets the kids and adults outside if you have an outdoor space. My kids love having friends over and playing in the yard. We usually set out the scooters, the soccer ball and goal, the tball and baseball bat…once the kids are outside they seem to come up with creative ways to play! When in doubt, I love the advice I got on cup of jo years ago - just add air or water! :)
Thanks for the addition of 12 news tabs. :) I think since everyone is looking for healthier methods of escapism (when chardonnay no longer works), I would love to send you a copy of my book "Thinking in Watercolo" (Artisan March 4)! I hope we can chat.
The My Blue Heaven story is even better - Nora Ephron wrote it based on Goodfellas, because she was married to the prosecutor in the real life case. I would definitely recommend watching (or rewatching) Goodfellas now that you've seen My Blue Heaven!
Related: Rick Moranis has come up in so many recent references for me (including the SNL doc and the Yacht Rock doc and now this) and it makes this gen x lady so very happy!
You are absolutely right - I confused the trivia about her husband vs the prosecutor. The actual Henry Hill prosecutor played himself/the fictional prosecutor in Goodfellas. Fun facts abound!
Dying to hear how Freddie is handling the notoriety as well as how your kids are doing ? I love how you talk about him and I can feel you grinning with my whole chest💕.
awww, thank you for asking, Sheila. Freddie says he enjoys it (he's hearing from lots of his guy friend's wives, who read the site! so fun:) and the kids are nervous to meet him but getting used to the idea xoxo
hbd joanna!!! my birthday is today :) :) :) thx to jenny for the pants rec: as a petite lady as well, i'm always on the lookout.
my husband got me a kitchenaid mixer for my bday, and i immediately made bob's red mill decadent chocolate cake mix, with Smitten Kitchen's icing: https://smittenkitchen.com/2015/02/the-i-want-chocolate-cake-cake/ HIGHLY RECOMMEND this combo for an easy celebration!
also for beauty recs: i can't get enough of the jones road miracle balm in the winter - hydrating and sparkly and flushed the prettiest way! can i ask ya'll: i am wanting eyeshadow with some shimmer! any recs?! (my eyes are sensitive!)
I love a shimmery eyeshadow and I also have sensitive eyes. I've had great luck with Lisa Eldridge's Liquid Lurex shadows. The colors are beautiful and they dry down so no glittery fallout.
Happy birthday! For eyeshadow with shimmer I love (these all come from excellent MUA Katie Jane Hughes) Urban Decay “space cowboy”, Half Magic “glitter puck” (this is huge and has a strangely cooling feeling?) and Bodyography glitter pigment in “celestial”. Bodyography and Urban Decay turned into my everyday neutrals on a recent Big International Trip! If I had to pick one: Urban Decay. Happy sparkling! ✨
lol, nevermind - I see the gift ! thanks! making today
Love all these ideas - is there any way to send the recipe for the chicken orzo soup? It's behind a paywall.
I came to report back that I purchased the Quince corduroys on Jenny's recommendation and they are perfect! I am kind of shocked.
Commenter Jessica here! If any other STL based Big Salad readers ever want to meet up for one of the Bellefontaine guided tours shoot me a PM!

We love air dry clay as a play-doh alternative! Also, sticker-by-number books!

Ephron was not married to the prosecutor, but rather the author of "Wiseguy," the book from which "GoodFellas" was adapted.

I really like this one in Kitten (the pictures make it look more pink than it is) https://www.stilacosmetics.com/products/trifecta-metallica-lip-eye-cheek-stick?variant=33132373344359
