45+ ideas from graphic designer Erin Jang, brand founder Laura Jackson, and writer Tembe Denton-Hurst. "I realized, now it’s my turn to make that magic," says Tembe.
Ty for making this free for all readers. Personally cutting back on buying things this year for myriad reasons, but def enjoy a little digital window shopping like the next gal.
Tembe's wife's hot chocolate sounds divine! Also I'm so sad the pigeon bookend is sold out. I will be searching the web to see if I can find it being sold anywhere else.
A few years ago I bought a 12 person set of Spode Christmas tree dishes. My husband and I had started hosting Christmas day brunch for our families and I love pulling the dishes out and setting the table with them. It drives my husband crazy that we own dishes we use one day a year but the joy I get from that moment is worth it (also that's what basements are for!).
1) I completely agree with Tembe about elevated rituals making a great gift! Those are my favorite gifts to receive now— that, and food!
2) I think I’m going to copy Erin’s idea of requesting family portraits from my kids 🥹 what a sweet idea.
3) finally, may I suggest, in addition to farm bingo, “Poop Bingo,” from the same creators. This was a huge hit with my kids and my whole adult family for several years 😂 https://a.co/d/aU1x8hF
Thank you for the wonderful newsletter, Joanna & co!! Loved this one.
I’m trying to be so casual and not whimper about the new (extremely lovely) gift guide format. I loved the lists for kids and friends and sisters and moms and dads by Joanna. Change is hard, guys. 🥺
Hi Emily! The good news is that Joanna is still publishing her gift guides on Cup of Jo. You can find them here, if you like: https://cupofjo.com/category/design/gift-guides. Thanks for reading! xo
Why did I tear up when Tembe said that about peeking behind the curtain 🩷
me too xoxo

I'm copying Erin's idea to ask the kids to draw a family portrait as a holiday gift. What a genius idea, something to truly treasure! <3
