It's so great to see Australian TV have its moment! Growing up in Australia in the 90s, TV shows that were made here were incredibly uncool to admit to watching and everyone talked about US TV, particularly shows like 90210 at school. I used to sneak into the living room while my mum watched Blue Heelers and McLeod's Daughters (check out YouTube for these gems)!
I have an incredibly random recommendation, but I came across this Tiktok video about what the creator called "Waffle Wednesdays" and sent it to two group chats and we're started doing this!! It's such a great feeling to have these videos pop over by text as I'm commuting midweek - highly recommend! We joke that they are like private Tiktoks to loved ones.
Yes! My friends and I started using the Marco Polo app and it’s been a game changer for keeping in touch. Moving off social, and using little videos to connect has been wonderful and has deepened our friendship so much.
I’m so glad I can comment even though I’m not a paid subscriber. I just love reading your blog and I appreciate that you offer some of it for free although you leave me wanting more!
Miami: If the getaway is kid-less, then a stay at the Standard (one night is good enough) or book a spa service at the Standard (with a full day at the pool) Rooms are underwhelming, but I literally only spent 12am-7am there. Lucali in design district is dim, moody, and more romantic than Brooklyn, but I preferred the pizza there. Go hungry. The Betsy was an adorable South Beach stay. Always Le Sandwicherie. Google pollo a la plancha and choose the restaurant you like the most. Lastly, follow Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton and check out the restaurants and bars she frequents!
Also loved Wellmania about an Australian writer , party girl who lives in NY, gets stuck in Australia and has to come to terms with her crazy lifestyle. Loved Fisk!
Espanola Way at night for dinner is a must do. It is touristy but iconic, fun, and really pretty. Get a sandwich at La Sandwicherie. Big Pink for brunch. Joe’s Stone Crab and then a walk along the South Point Pier Park. I also must spend some time at the pool and just take a long beach walk! I can’t wait to go back!!!
Thank you for this! I’ve never been to Miami, so as I plan a trip I’m trying to figure out all cultural places to go to, when really I think just want to be in the pool. And eat well 😂
I went for a work summit last year and absolutely loved Books & Books bookstore (I went to the one in Coconut Grove) and we had a special dinner at Dirty French that I will never forget. It’s a hip spot that has a chic 80s vibe but feels really unique and fun. The food was incredible. We shut the place down!
Did anyone else find season 2 of Fisk a bit of a letdown after the falling out of your chair, tears of laughter hilarious first season? I loved Offspring when I first watched it 10 years ago. Maybe I need to rewatch! Any other lighthearted, funny, romantic shows?
Loved the robe shared. I actually got one very similar from Etsy (also from India and 100% cotton) for Christmas. I think it was closer to $40, which is great too!
The last time I was in Miami, my sister-in-law took me to Zak the Baker because she knows I love a good bakery. It was incredible (I ate a croissant sandwich at the beach!) and now I follow them on Instagram and wonder when I can go back.

Yes to McLeod's Daughters❤️
For Miami:
Definitely recommend going to Gramps in the Wynwood neighborhood! I got married on the back patio! https://copperoranges.wordpress.com/2017/07/26/our-wedding-the-ceremony/ :)
Also, Dolly and my son (age 3) share the same dessert palate! He loves stuffing white chocolate chips into the middle of raspberries as a treat!

I just overheard a colleague mention this at lunch. I guess the trend made it to Scotland!

Re Miami: Guava and Cheese Pastelitos from Zak the Baker, a visit to Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, and a trek through Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.
