I am late to the party reading the April Edit…but have to say that I moved out of Chicago in 2011 and still dream about their roasted chicken with crispy onions over mashed potatoes!
All life is inherently rich. By rich I mean of value, not great material wealth. So instead the question we need to ask is, “What are you doing to keep life rich for all people?”

i wanted to share the original quote that one of the attendees referenced but didn't get *quite* right. also worth mentioning that it's not originally penned by someone in the comments, but from the (now defunct) twitter account @petfurniture, who is truly a poet and whose prose i miss. even after i left twitter, i would continue to check their account daily, not unlike how i continue to check CoJ daily!

You had desserts from Lula Cafe at your event. You should put this restaurant on your list of places to eat. It’s our favorite and also where chefs often eat. The food is creative as well as delicious. Right on Logan Sq.

I just want to channel my inner Mary Oliver and have time for beauty and amazement every single day--time to enjoy the act of writing, to feel the softness of the yarn in my hands as I knit, to walk with my puppy and let her sniff absolutely everything, to explore new places whenever I can. Nothing fancy. It's always the little things!

Oh, Joanna, a thousand thank yous for the wonderful night! My idea of a rich life is being able to drive 7 1/2 hours to attend the event and meet you in person. You and this entire community are so warm, inviting, non-judgmental, fun, thoughtful, encouraging, loving...I could go on :) A balm for my introverted soul and I am still so stinkin' excited that I was there (and so glad that Nora got to use my extra ticket when my daughter could not attend with me).
