Kaitlyn, you should try 'The Everlasting' by Alix E Harrow. It's got sumptuous writing about how narratives can be manipulated in service of empire with a hefty dose of time travel and romance.
I can fully endorse The Rack Shack as well. I have not been in a while as post breast reduction I primarily wear tanks or no bra at all, but they know their shit, are kind, have products at a range of price points, and are consent-forward without making it weird.
Wishing Maureen the best in her next chapter! A big welcome to Alison!
Anyone have any recommendations on high waisted track pants? I hopped on board the high waist trend a few years back and have realized it's the best look for my body type so I don't want to hop back off. A quick browse at track pants and it seems like most are mid or low rise.
Athleta track pants are awesome - mid to high rise I’d say? But I also have some from American Eagle that are very high rise. Love that track pants are back on my radar!
Kaitlyn, Allegra Goodman's newest is SO good. Zero similarities to Isola minus the fabulous writing — it's more of a cozy family saga. If you love historical fiction, Lauren Groff's Matrix is magnificent (so is her new short story collection, Brawler). I could go on!
Same! Loved both (and everything else she’s written), but nothing tops Vaster Wilds for me. I even insisted that my husband pick it for his guys book club and they all loved it too (major green flag!).
More historical fiction for Kaitlyn: The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.
Also, does anyone have recommendations for cute track pants in petite sizes? I'm only 5'2, and I know the Adidas track pants run long. Thanks in advance!
My siblings in-law bought me a Big Salad subscription for my birthday on Feb 3rd, and I just wanted to say I'm happy to be here! Excited for a fun year of Big Salads ahead! X
so far we've gotten the wild caught! also, the ground turkey is so juicy and flavorful. we have made turkey tacos for years, but the ones we recently made were extra delicious. I honestly didn't know there could be a big difference in ground turkey!
I'm not sure you know, so I thought I'd share. The CUPOFJO15 code doesn't seem to work on travel size versions of the Roz haircare, but it will for full size.
Hi!! Cup of Jo is my go to for travel advice. I have searched the archives for San Francisco and it is all really old. Any chance of a refresh or Lucy's city ideas?!!
The Rack Shack is the best! I went after a double mastectomy. The owner is a genius and so lovely and I LOVE the bras I bought there-I don't find myself struggling with it during the day or dying to fling it off at night. Hooray for local, great shops!
Ooh The Marriage Portrait looks so interesting—thanks for the recommendation!
I recently finished reading a book that sounds similar—I Am You by Victoria Redel—which follows a fictionalized story about 17th century painter Maria van Oosterwijk in Amsterdam. It was thrilling!!
I need to check out this bra situation!

Great rec!! Thank you!!

Check out the athleta version!

...also wondering if the owner of the Rack Shack would be a good profile. She's Dutch and mellow and kinda groovy...

I LOVED matrix and brawler -- Elyse, have you read Vaster Wilds? that might be my favorite of them all.
Loved Matrix and Vaster Wilds...cannot wait for Brawler. Thank you, Elyse!!! xo

Such a green flag!
Vaster Wilds!! Such a gorgeous fever dream of a book. Throwing out Lost Lambs by Madeline Cash for something completely zany and fun. 💚

Dying to know what Alison's go-to local thrift shop is as someone who lives in the same general area! BK Heights Housing Works? DTBK Goodwill?
Also, Joanna, I'm biting the bullet and signing up for Butcher Box. Do you get the wild caught salmon or farm raised? I cant decide!
oh and I just asked Alison and she says she goes outside of the city to any of the MyUnique locations! xo

The Rack Shack is an outstanding name for a bra shop!
